Some people might like to take life slow and savour the moments they experience. Me on the other hand love to create things to keep me busy. Writing used to be a hobby, it was personal entertainment and now I have several series which are different genres. The genres are historical fiction, young adult fiction, science fiction and supernatural fiction. I don’t limit myself to one genre because my mind will always be curious to try new things. I’ve been neglecting all my stories lately because I’m working 38 hours a week, I finish at 6pm. I get home, eat then go back to work on my university work, I’m studying an associate degree in creative writing. Every night I schedule in my diary what I will be working on. I’m also doing a traineeship to become a pharmacy assistant for work. 38 hours of work, traineeship and university, plus this website which is my other career. Having two careers maybe overzealous but I’ve always been a person to have a back up plan that will catch me if I fall.
I went back to university on the 5th of July and this semester my classes are short story writing and writing poetry. I’m excited to finally get into the creative side of the classes. This semester there is no essay writing just two critical reviews on my drafts, but I am having trouble coming up with ideas for a story and a poetry idea. I have always feared writing poetry because I thought every word had to rhyme and speak like a song. I am willing to have a go. In poetry class the teacher gave us homework to print off three favourite poems. Mine are Edger Allen Poe’s the raven, Margaret Atwood’s the burning house and T.s. Elliot’s the wasteland. I really like the dark and disturbed minds of creativity.
